I'm new to this site, too. I have a LH 1966 Guild Starfire V. The original color was red. When I was playing in a band in the late 60s, we took a break and apparently a fight erupted near the stage. A mic stand smashed into my Guild and scarred it pretty bad. I took it to a luthier who re-finished it in black for me. He did a great job but it just wasn't the same guitar. Lately, I also had to put a Tune-a-matic bridge on it. The bridge can stay but is there any way to restore it to it's original red finish? Should I even try? Paul in Memphis

Hello Paul.

There are definitely ways to get the guitar as good as new, but it's not always cheap. We don't do a lot of finish work in the shop here, just because we're low on space. But we have been sending finish work to Denny Rauen in Milwaukee. He does an excellent job. www.rauenguitars.com

I have sent them an email and I'll see what they say.
