Ah yes, amplifier abuse: ampliphilia. There should be a law against it.

Can you tell me why the amps are buzzing?
Nothing's happened in a million gigs
I've been sitting here since Wednesday morning
Wednesday morning can't believe my ears
Amp police are looking through my lead dress
Amp police are talking to my niece
Amp police have got their final orders
Shredder, drop your axe, it's Amp police!

Cloners taken serious by the many
Tweakers taken joyous by a few
Amp police are paid by Howard Dumble
Shredders paid by Uli Behringers crew

Amp police I hear you calling
Amp police I feel so blue
Amp police I think I'm falling,
I'm falling for B+

Wild as any solder loving valveist
I applaud the actions of the chief
Tell me now oh beautiful and spacious
Am I in trouble with the Amp police?

Amp police are looking through my lead dress ...

can I really submerge my amp in a bathtub of water overnight, take it out the next morning, let it dry out for 24 hours and then plug it in and play it ? Just say I can safely , without electrocuting myself, what do you think it would then sound like?

ok, not really sure joe walsh did this, but he is not here to deny it, so I am running with it.

also, would it really make my speaker sound more distorted if i cut strips into it ?

What are you trying to achieve? Do you think your technique will be more fluid? Your lead tone more liquid? Cutting strips in a speaker cone, sure, that's what I call shredding.

I did a submerged amp demo at a frat party decades ago. The amp was powered on and played through while submerged. We used the fluid for ultrasonic cleaning bath, not water, but nobody else knew.
