Has anyone bought an Iphone?

I actually had to go to the AT&T store the week after they came out because service to my model phone (three years old and heavy as a brick) was going to be discontinued. While I was there I messed around with the iPhone on display a bit. All in all I was not very impressed. Also, I've read reports that it requires constant recharging. The iPhone II is set to be released around Christmas, equipped with a much longer lasting battery, and better storage capabilities.

If you're looking for something like the iPhone, I'd wait about 1 year. Microsoft is set to release the early versions of its Surface technology ( http://www.microsoft.com/surface/ ) at the end of this year. The plans are to use it in cell phone applications to completely change the market. Plus, by then, the iPhone shuffle will be out.

A friend of mine bought one, it seems like a nice ipod/pocket computer but not such a great phone. He thinks it is hard to dial, and heavier than he thought it would be. To protect it, he bought a clear case which makes it kind of bulky too. Overall he likes it, but wishes it had a way to dial on a pad and was smaller/lighter.
I am waiting for version 2.........I try not dive into anything in the first release, they alway iron stuff out after the first units.

I'm one of the last three people on the face of the earth who has never owned a cell phone. I was tempted with the iPhone by the demos on the Apple site. That said, even being a hardcore MAC guy, I'm leery of buying the first generation of anything. I'll wait down the road and see how the product develops. :)
