This was the 1st show I had been to in I don't know how long where the place was packed before the opening band. The weather was perfect, and this was night 2 of a 2 night stop for Pearl Jam w/ Petty.
SummerFest is a huge 10 day fest of music and food along the lakefront in downtown Milwaukee. There are 6 stages I think and music is free all night long. The Marcus Stage overlooks the lake and hosts the large acts.
Pearl Jam opened, which in my opinion was a huge mistake. I love Petty and the Heartbreakers, but PJ was cut short. It should have been the other way around. Nonetheless, Pj came out and did what they do best, make the fans feel appreciated. The set was 1:15 and it took 1 hour for the roadies to remove the gear for Petty. That was the biggest cluster **** I have ever seen in my life :)
Petty came out in his typical style, Campbell was on fire and sounded amazing. This is the 30th anniversary of The Heartbreakers, a new album comes out in 4 weeks and I have to admit, I should look as good as Petty does when I am his age :)
Eddie came out in the middle of the set and sang The Waiting and he did a better job then Tom has done in recent years, but you can tell I am biased by now LOL
They cruised through the rest of the show, doing an Animals cover and all their greatest hits.
The crowd was great and it was the perfect summer day.
For those who haven't picked up Pearl Jam's new album I highly suggest you grab it!
