Pretty simple. What's your favorite kind of effect?

Options:
Overdrive/Clean Boost
Distortion (Pick this if you like Fuzz)
Phasing
Chorus
Flange
Delay
Reverb
Compression
Wah
Other

That's like having to choose your favorite child.

I picked delay though, only because it always brings a smile.

love a little overdrive, it's really the only effect that seems to inspire me...

I must have a wah, it has become a big part of my style. Also, some sort of vibe is on my list of favorites.

I'll go with wah. I've always been fascinated with it's vocal sounds.

I picked Overdrive/Clean Boost but I would have to add delay and wah to complete my list of favorites.

The others are nice but I could live without them.

I play a lot fuzz lately, but ultimately my favorite effect is wah. I just have to remember to use it sparingly, or else I'll turn into Kirk Hammett!

Fuzz fuzz fuzz all the way for me. Wouldn't lump it in with distortion, though, it's very much its own animal.

Distortion next, of course. :D

Yeah it's unfortunate though. The poll only allows 10 choices, and I ran out of spaces, posted it and it wouldn't let me go back and edit it. So yeah...

Can't go wrong with Delay. From subtle (reverbesque) to slapback to long/multi repeats - I love 'em all. My favorite weapon of choice is my Maxon Ad-999.

If it were up to me, 95% of the time I'd just play with a medium high gain distortion. (JCM800 Marshall level) Right inbetween high gain lead and basic rhythm crunch. It's great cause you can turn down your volume knob for more polite textures.

My favorite pedals for this purpose: BJF Dyna Red Distortion (Gain at 2 oclock) and the Lovepedal Eternity (Gain cranked). It's "my" sound.

Hi,
New member ians371 from Sydney Australia checking in !!
This will be a very interesting poll for both us guitarists and manufacturers of pedals.Marc especially.
I thought at first it would be a simple question to answer but to pick out just ONE effect is not so easy as I for one use several at a time.I guess I get "Comfortable Numb" in this process in my "Comfort Zone" !!
For me the delay (Boss DD20) or whatever delay unit is used is the ONE pedal I can least do without.I can get clean, boosted, treble or distorted sounds from my amp.I can get reverb from my amp.Modulation is a nice to have as is a Wah.
On reflection if I were to choose a number two it would be a toss up between EQ and Compression.

I will be interested to see the reasoning other guitarists give for their choice.I think this is where it will become most revealing.

THANKS:)

You mean to tell me that I'm the only person here who prefers reverb to any other type of effect?? Damn, I guess I'm more "pre-historic" and not what you'd call "old school", huh? I can get by without it if I have to, but to me there's nothing that sounds as good as a tube driven, 3 spring unit with long springs; be it an onboard or an outboard unit. I love the way the guitar signal is fattened and the depth that's added when a quality unit is employed. Personally, I'm more a "plug-n-play" type of player and I'd rather let the tubes, speaker/speakers and pups work together to give me any type of gain or OD - like Marvin & Tammy said, "ain't nothing like the real thing, baby"!

Where's Tom on this?? You just gonna leave me hangin' Skillet? :D

I'm with ya PeeWee. I guess I was just thinking more on the line of effects pedals, as my amps have onboard reverb. But the reverb would definately be my first choice of effects.

Delay. I don't have this kind of love/hate thing going on with anything else. Had one exceptional DM3 that seemed to blend into the sound... and then it didn't. Probably been through as many delays as overdrives, but here's hoping the right flavor presents itself before too long.

Light/medium OD would be a reasonably close second. It's the other white meat.

Thank heavens we are not limited to only having/using a single pedal by the pedalboard police!

Could you imagine the government getting involved in pedal rationing?

Holy crap, the horrors!

Really like this Boss Tremolo pedal. Gives different wave forms of tremolo and does a great job like a Vox tremolo.

I like to use it slowed down and deep, kind of gives a rotating speaker effect which I sometimes like.

My most used is probably reverb, because I use it whether I'm playing clean or dirty. But I probably am the most picky about overdrives. My overall favorite? Both, of course.
