I want to thank everyone that came to the pre-party and a special thank you to Brian for the great idea and all the help. It was a pleasure to meet all of you. I will get photos up and I hope everyone that attended will upload some as well.
Thank you to Matt Artinger and Vince Cunetto and Kyle for making the long trip!
The show was amazing, I will not do it justice and all of you will need to buy the DVD.
The weather was perfect and that never happens in Chicago!
Bill Murray was a blast.
The level at which the players were performing was just insane. Each player came out and out did the one before and in a very tasteful way.
Highlights were the Vince Gill set. He played with Jerry Douglas, Sheryl Crow, Peter Stroud, Albert Lee (he stole the show up to this point) and it was just a pleasure to listen to to.
Jeff Beck is GOD!!!!!!!!
You can download this set and you need not ever listen to, purchase or watch anything else from this show. Did I mention Jeff Beck is GOD? Not only was his set mind blowing, exhausting, thrilling and amazing, but he also had a 23 year old bass player who was insane and SHE was almost as amazing as Jeff. The crowd got all that they paid for with this set.
The Clapton, Winwood set was a dream come true. They did a couple Traffic tunes and a Blind Faith track. I swear these guys play toghether all the time, that is how tight the set was. Steve Winwood you are an amazing musician with more history then most know. Thank you for a fantastic night!
The organizers of the fest were the unspoken hero, each act was set up with the time of day and carried with it the right emotion. Beck played at sunset and Winwood and Clapton played just as the moon began to light up the park.
Buddy Guy eneded it all with the chops we all wanted to see. He really stepped up and we appreciated his effort.
Surprises? Jonny Winter was a freaking fantastic surprise. Mayer rocked as always. BB was great. I know I am leaving things out, but the others will post.
I am still i shock over what I witnessed.
Thank you Eric for bringing Crossroads to Chicago!
Thank you Vince, Matt, Kyle, Tom, Chris, John and Teddy for making this one of the greatest days in my life!
