Use to do all my own work as a youngster but got away from it when family and job came in to play. Starting over by modding different strat style guitars to begin with. This is a Charvel Custom ST with an RS LP Junior electronics kit. WCR/Guitar25.com Black Iron bridge p/u and Carvin all purpose single coil in the neck. Neck is Walnut with bloodwood fretboard. Not a real tight fit in the pocket but it's straight and I love it.

Nice guitar! I've fiddled a bit (with a parts-o-tele) but never put one together that nice!

I've been on an Iron Maiden rediscovery lately, and I have a new project planned. I'm going to get a black MIM Strat, and redo the pickups HSH so it will be like Dave Murray's Kossoff Strat.

Hey ModTourMan, thanks for the kind words. i usually go for 'fancier" guitars but this one sounds and plays so good I've really latched on to it. As far as the looks go I dug the Charvel body and thought this particular neck would look good on it. It's a Karosa neck. I really like his necks. It's number 700 so he's been making them a while.
cvansickle,
Sounds like a cool project. I looked up some info on Murray's Kossoff steat. I never knew it belonged to Koss before. Interesting.

That is nice. I have a parts guitar that I put together with various Warmoth, etc. parts and I like it as much as any other guitar I own. I will build another as soon as I can afford it. I don't know if I'll buy another off the shelf guitar, I saved myself some money and it turned out better than I could have imagined.

We're underway. I have the guitar, and now I'm waiting on the DiMarzio pickups.

Cool project. We often make recommendations to our clients that are real players to go with a parts guitar, or to modify a guitar that they already have and love. They usually end up with something far less expensive than a Fender custom shop or top of the line Gibson, that plays and sounds far better, with quality electronics and far superior fretwork! They've gotten so popular, that we've started selling quite a few at the shop.
