Alright guys,

I've been through alot of Tele Pickups. 52 Reissue Fender Vintage, Fralin, Kinman, Lollar GVCG and now Hamels (my current favorites).

I'm interested in what you Gurus think...

I don't know if I found THE pickups for me yet.

well, they are nothing fancy... but I really love the pups in my tele

Duncan '54 in the bridge and an Alnico II Pro in the neck... the bridge has the right amount of "air" to it and gets that early Zep tone as well as Keef style stuff.

The neck is great, really beautiful cleans and with the right amp a thick and very musical lead tone... the alnico II mags really have a sweet overtone that let's a lot of nuance through in your playing.

I have tried Nocaster pups, antiquities, and fralins as well.

Hi Jamie,

All of my Fenders are equipped with J.M. Rolph pickups my three Strats & my Telecaster. Jim Rolph knows more about any circa vintage Fender pickups than just about anyone. Plus he has all the original equipment that they used way back in the day too! My foam green Strat (with the 1964 models) sounds like Jimi Hendrix, my infamous PinkStrat (which has 1960 models) sounds like a cross between Terje Rypdal's 1960 Stratocaster and Jeff Beck's guitar (a la "Wired" tone) while my '57 Reissue Strat has Jim's 1956 model pups in it & this one sounds more like EJ meets Eric Clapton. Supposedly, the 56s are the strongest ever wound for Strats. In the case of the 1952 Telecaster pickups they have that unmistakable CRUNCH like Keef whereas the '53s are more like Vince Gill's Telecaster. More smoother sounding there. If this sounds like enough sonic variety email me and I'll hook you up with Jim okay? I've been through them all and his are the most authentic in more ways than meets the eye!:)

I had a PreBs Dimarzio that was the best damn bridge pickup I had in  a Tele. After 13 years It simply died.I tried all sorts of other replacements and finally traded it to a friend who loves it dearly. But for me the affair was over.I now have a1984 52' Tele reissue that I love .The strange thing is the the stock bridge pickup sounds killer,It was the front pickup that sucked.I couldn't get any volume without feedback. It had sweet tone at low volume. So as last resort I potted the pickup with parafin. The only completely stock Tele I have ever loved.
