Diamonds, Anyone??
Here is a way cool project that a client of ours asked us to take on for him. It was an interesting experiment where he asked us to actually inlay diamonds into a hollowbody bridge. We made the bridge by hand, similar to how a normal hollowbody bridge would be made, and then inlaid the diamonds that had already been cut to hold each individual string - good luck trying to notch those suckers with a nut file!
Overall the experiment we deemed to be a success. As you know, usually the harder the material you use for such components of an instrument as the nut or saddles, the better tone transferrence you get - that's why bone sounds better than plastic, or why brass sounds better than pot metal. However, it's not necessarily that the tone was 'better' so much as it was really different, but cool - like different flavors of ice cream. This bridge was made for an Ibanez Artcore, and with us and also more importantly, the client satisfied with the results, this is the simply th 'first of.' It was pretty interesting and even a little surprising when completed. Can you say bright?? Major difference in tone. Really cool. It took that Artcore to a whole new level!

Ever wonder what a few grand in diamonds looks like in a guitar? Look at that shimmer!
