Anyone seen/heard/played/owned a Jay Turser guitar? What did you like? What did you not like? What would you change about it (neck/pickups/electronics etc)?
Sorry for the row of questions... heh. I might be purchasing one for kind of cheap, maybe as a project guitar. Don't really know anything about them.

I've got a Turser tele copy that I use mostloy as my 'around-the-house' beater. It's a decent guitar - plays nice, sounds decent, intonates well, holds its tune, was decently constructed and the neck has a nice feel. The things I don't like are it has a tummy cut like a strat, the neck is too thin for my taste - though it is well finished, and there is a pronounced difference in gain between the pups. That said, I paid $120 for it from a guy on another forum virtually site unseen, so my expectations weren't high to begin with. I'm pretty happy with it.

I was seriously looking at the Tursers for a beater LP style guitar. I couldn't get anyone on the internet to tell me what the nut size is. I was looking for
1 11/16". Went to Sam Ash and played a couple. 1 5/8" nut and thin necks turned me off. They were tremendous in the "Bang for the Buck" category. Nice finishes and decent tone.

I had one of the LP copies and it was really nice for the price. I had heard a lot of negtive comments but I figured for the price I'd try it out. I used it mainly for my around the house guitar. It played well and looked great (it had the serpent inlay neck) I kept it for a year and sold it at a small profit! I wasn't crazy about the sound of the pickups but overall I was pleased with the purchase.

I've got one of the LP copies as well, and its a decent enough guitar for the money. Hardware is generally crap, but it makes a good beater that you can carry around without having to worry about it getting beat up.

The few I have played did not do too much for me. I am a nut about fret work and setup and none were very good.

Mandatory fret dress required on purchase. But they are so cheap you can afford it!
