Would you guys be down with a Kit for new members?
Strings, picks, a cork sniffing t-shirt :), maybe some other cool stuff?
Maybe a LP frame for your car :)
Maybe a 1 year subscription to a magazine ;)
Let me know your thoughts

I'd be down...but I'd also want reparations for existing members. :p

there were some gifts, promised in the past, masterbuild Fender, etc.
Not one promise came to a real deal.
So, might be better to keep the "shit" gifts when its only cooked air.

The entire reason the Masterbuild giveaway didn't see the light of day was due to a severe lack of participation on behalf of the existing membership. Explain just why you'd think that it'd be a sound idea to give away an instrument valued at over $5,000 when no one was willing to step up to the plate?? All that was required was for current members to make at least 10 posts and that was changed after the initial plan of making 10 referrals.
The first giveaway of an effects pedal did happen and IRRC, there were 2 members that benefited from that contest. Just recently, free passes were given away for the last NAMM show with the only requirement being making a certain number of posts.
It seems that the only time some of the membership is willing to be proactive is when there's the prospect of getting something for absolutely nothing; just what does that say about people in general??
I'd be all in favor of a "starter kit" for the newbies if it meant getting more membership and participants. However I'd make certain that an agreement would be made between The Hub and new membership that a minimum amount of activity on the boards would be part of the deal in receiving anything on the cuff.
Just my $.02...............

I understand it now Peewee
but it still sounds a bit weird, that a forum need give aways to make it
succesfull, a few good admin's, writers, and members with some human skill,
can bring this forum to a higher level, not a t-shirt or Gibson sticker.

I thought you meant an exclusive pedal kit like a BYOC type thing that only we would have the opportunity to receive (and build).
...because that'd be kinda cool.

I've noticed a certain petulance in many of the posts here. I post all the time at HM, because the members there post about normal things, things about which I may (or may not) have an opinion.
I'm not sure what the secret is, but whining about it probably isn't the solution.
As I've posted before, I'd be willing to participate to the extent of my knowledge and resources. But no one ever replies to any of my offers/displays of interest.
