Ill Dyna Comp question for technical diagnostic wizards

i have an early script logo MXR Dyna Comp.After 30 years of regular use it has developed a probllem.If I hold a note for a very long time it suddenly distorts and cuts out like a noise gate.Does anyone know which component or components are breaking down?:confused:

Hi,

There's trimmer that sets the bias for the OTA and this trimmer sets the OTA in linear mode. If this trimmer has moved, and there's only a small window on the trimmer that allows linear mode, and is at the outer edge of the window then this behavior can result.

You can set and detect in the same way as you have discovered this and you will hear when distortion is at minimum.
You can also use a scope if you have one handy.
