Hi all, I've been busy removing spam for the last couple of days (it's scary because for about a week I hardly got any spam in my mail - knock on wood!) while all the time thinking about something relevant to post here but I didn't want to make up something just to do so. The Hub has been very very sleepy lately. Where you all at?

So here's some good news: There's two videos of our band on youtube and I'd like for you to check them out and enjoy them:

Great stuff Tom.
I'm German by hertitage, but afraid I have no idea what the name of the band is, or the first song - fill me in please.

Also the singer/harp player is awesome - curious as to what type of amp he's playin through?

Unfortunately, I don't have any video of my playing, but any who do should post, it is very interesting to actually see who is posting and how they play.

Melvin, it's just a plain love song - it's title in english would be "The 11th Commandment" and that is to love your baby 24 hours a day.
The name of the band means "The Third Ear" which came about when singer / harp player Udo founded the band in 1968 (1968?) you'd need a third ear to hear some blues because your regular two would be busy listening to psychedelic stuff. :D

Udo's amp is an early 80s Fender 4-10 Concert, the model that Paul Riviera designed.

That's impressive you've been together that long - I thought the 25 years that our band has been together was a feat, and quite frankly at times it has been, but 40, that is great.

What guitar are you playing in the first vid? and what amp are you going through?
I really enjoyed the simple nature of the second song, good job never losing the vibe or time yet still making it most enjoyable.

Udo may be my new hero - I quit drinking ten years ago, but I need to know if he imbibes to get that smoky vocal quality or if it just comes naturally?

Great videos both - by the way I've gone through all the track at your home page and enjoyed all of them. Guess I need to pick up my slide again and at least attempt to emulate a good player (you'll do!).

Hi Melvin - thanks again!
A band that lasts 25 years is a feat! Rarely do exist bands that long.
The guitar in the first vid is my Epiphone WildKat set up with .0145 - .052 strings tuned to open D and capoed for E. It's a great guitar for slide, especially for its relatively low price. Matter of fact, I had to direct import one from the States as it isn't being sold here in Germany. I'm going through a Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb - my favourite amp so far. It's the first amp I ever had that all my guitars sound good through and it's not very loud so I can really put the output tubes to work. The guitar in the second vid is my self assembled Strat that I'm very proud of because it really plays like butter and sounds great, too - not bad for one you put together yourself.
As for Udo: his voice is just natural - it's been that way since I first met him but he enjoys a drink and a smoke, too so that might help :D

excellent!

to add to the how long list, my band, MOTEL EARTH, has been together for about 18 years now. we formed right after I bought my first guitar (at 30) and have been together since.

Thanks, beert! 18 years is a good long run when most bands break up before they even agree upon a setlist! :D

Thanks, Jim - I appreciate it! :) I see, you're in Chicago - well, haven't been there in a long time, but I used to visit frequently. How's the Windy City?

Actually, I just moved to Maryland from Chicago a couple of months ago (need to update my User CP). When I left, it was 9 degrees
