Sean Costello: 1979 - 2008

I just learned through a mutual friend that rising Blues guitarist/vocalist, Sean Costello, was found dead in his hotel room yesterday afternoon just 1 day shy of his 29th birthday. Cause of death is still pending. Sad, sad day.

Sean first caught the attention of many when as a 14 year old kid, won the IBC in Memphis and with his debut CD, "Call The Cops!" with his then band The Jive Bombers. Great player with a real feel and understanding of the Blues. My heart goes out to the Costello family and to his longtime friend and frenquent musical partner, Jon Liebman.

Rest in peace, Sean.

** correction** Sean was 17 years old when he won the IBC and released his 1st CD. Sorry for that....age is a bitch.

Sad indeed.
I became aware of him about two years ago and really enjoyed his playing - it's been awhile, guess I'll have to dust off my CD and toast him.

Played in Detroit a couple of years ago as well - missed him because I was gigging. Always figured I'd get another chance . . . . . .
