Y'all know I've been on the search for an acoustic amp on a budget -well, I picked up a Kustom Sienna 35 (http://www.kustom.com/product_detail.aspx?TypeID=5&FamilyID=74&ProductID=85&Tab=2). It had a favourable review in a german acoustic guitar magazine and it's pretty cheap so I decide to go for it. I'll have the first gig using it tomorrow - we' ll see!

So Tom - how did you like the amp?
Did it do all you wanted it to do?

Didn't read the whole spec sheet on it - does it have a line out (balanced)?
At 30 watts (SS) I assume you used it more for a monitor or was the gig small enough that you used it to project to the house, if so did you get any feedback (pun intended) from anyone in the audience?

Hi Melvin. The amp worked well for me. It's intended strictly as a monitor for myself so I'd be independent from the soundman and can tweak it to my taste during soundcheck and especially between tunes if the sound changes without having to carry on a conversation with the man at the board. It does have a line-out, unbalanced, though but if I need to go balanced I can hook up a DI box. One handy feature on the amp is a feedback notch filter that eliminates feedback frequencies efficiently but can also be used to shape the tone in the lower mids. Effects section has a couple of good sounding reverb settings and chorus that can cheat a twelve-strng sound. All in all, being on a budget, I'm satisfied as of now. Looking forward to use it in rehearsals with the acoustic band (which is still far away from being ready for gigs :D). If you want some more features like a balanced line out and independent tone controls for the mic channel with a balanced mic input, there's the Sienna 65 - one step higher. Thanks for dropping in - always good to see somebody else here. :)

My wife told me it sounded good.

My wife told me it sounded good.

Does that count?

Guess it does . . . it's great to have someone supportive to listen to what you're doing even if it may be somewhat subjective. Mine thinks I'm a great player - I know better, but as long as she's happy.

Same here! :p Anyway, my wife has developed a decent ear for good guitar music and sounds (after all her favourite sound is slide guitar and for the right reason - the vocal quality of it) and: she funded the purchase in part so I can be lucky she likes what I (we) purchased instead of mumbling: "do you really need another amp, you already have (put in appropriate figure) of them!" :D
As for comments from the audience or fellow musicians: the set was way too short (just kind of a guest appearance) to make much of an impression.

.

Ah yes, one of the best quotes I've read recently . . .
"An extravagance is anything you buy that is of no earthly use to your wife."

I have Catre Blanc from my wife for a new amp - just no money.

Tom - sure your probably aware of Delta Moon - when you speak of the vocal quality of slide playing, both Tom & Mark from this band come to mind. Just awesome tone. Bought their new(est) CD 'Clear Blue Flame' by accident and it has fast become a staple in my car.

Hadn't heard of them yet - thanks for the tip. Now that's two new bands worth listening to in one day: earlier this morning I was directed to these guys, don't know if you are aware of them:

Lots of slide, too.

Was not aware of them - thanks for the heads up!

I do see where Delta Moon have a couple of vid's on youtube as well, so check'em ot.

Interestingly when I first heard the group they had a female (they've gone through 2) singer and I really enjoyed the sound. Ordered the CD at a local music store, but the sold me the newer one instead of what I had ordered. - like I said 'happy accident'.

Band of Heathens will play close to where I live on Dec. 13 - but it's already sold out!
OTOH: it'll be a "label showcase" (their german label, I guess) and there will be 8 more solo artists / bands on the bill so I guess they might only have like a 20 - 30 minute slot and I'd rather would enjoy a full scale concert. Yes, sir, I have checked Delta Moon on youtube.
