What's the one amp that you either want to try out or want to buy? Could be a vintage classic, a new spin on an old favorite, or a totally new design...

what has you interested?

I want to play a TopHat Sweet 16 and I want to buy a Savage Macht 6...

It will take some time for that though... The guitar herd just went from 3 to 5 in about three weeks. So, I need to let things quiet down on that front... lol

I want to try a number of those new boutique amps. But you can hardly find them for sale at a dealer where you can play them.

You will have to make out to ToneFest Chicago 2007. We had over 50 Boutique Exhibitors at ladt years show.
But, there are some dealers out there with stock you just have to search a bit.
Maybe we can do an Amp Demo Box? :D

I'm having a hard time finding a reason NOT to buy a Mesa Stiletto Ace.

The Tophat Supreme 16 is definitely on my list. Also the newest incaration of the Club Royale.

Others include the Swart Space Tone, Hiwatt 20, /13 9/15 and of course our very own Mad Professor's amp (although I'll never be able to afford one :( .

I would love to try a Dr. Z Rt. 66 - all the sound clips I hear are great, and everyone who has one loves it.

I lied... I picked up a Louis Baby Bluesbreaker...

112 with a G12H... otherwise it is a JTM45 circuit with an added bonus of a rangemaster treble booster knob under the chassis... dial it up for more fun.

LOUD, greasy, and tones of character to the tone... sounds like a great old Marshall.

I may need to get an attenuator to help tame it for lower volume use... but cranking it up is a good time. It looks sharp too.

Lou makes some fine amps!

You coming through anytime soon?

No problem, I understand busy schedules. I have nothing on my calendar for Chicago through the end of the year, but that can change.

Apparently this is the first "baby" bluesbreaker he sent out. the only thing little about it is that it is 30 lbs lighter than the fullsize version...

Airbrake or MASS? What do you think?

Wow, 30lbs lighter. That was my only issue.
I can't imagine you could go wrong with any of the attenuators out there. Air brake, hot plate, I have never seen the MASS.
See what BJ or Alex have to say.

IMO all these handbrakes give you is smoke and no fire. Correctly designed low power amp cranked full on driving a low efficiency loudspeaker will sound a whole lot better than a high power amp with any kind of attenuator. By low power I mean something below 3 Watts. Power scaling is otherwise a very good option. Just my opinion, I am in no way associated with Kevin O'Connor.

Top Hat Sweet 16, Chicago Blues Box and Louis Electric.

There's a few more I just can't think of right now.

This is my new rig, featuring the new Stiletto Ace head. The 412 cab is run dry, the two Basson cabs are for the rack effects, currently powered by the Reverend Kingsnake (until I find a rackable power amp for the Bassons). I'm thinking a Mesa 50/50 if I can find an affordable one used, as I like what the Reverend's 6L6 tubes are doing for the effects. I've heard good things about the Mesa 20/20 too, which is EL84 based. If I go super cheap and solid state, the Carvin DCM150 gets high marks from Bob Bradshaw himself. Right now the effects are dual mono, but any of the above mentioned options would let me run stereo.

Yeah, what's the deal with that as a thread count ranking anyway? Is it because bass players are thought to be so lowly?

For the record, I do actually own a bass, and I can play it somewhat, but I would not insult the real bassists of the world by calling myself a bass player!
