View Full Version : Chicago Tonefest 2007!
We have found the perfect location, and we think you guys are going to dig the revamped show!
Please give us some feedback for dates. We are looking at Semptember and October.

I thought the 06 location was perfect, except for it being a long way from the airport. Some better soundproofing on the Demo room is a must, and the amp and playing demos, etc. should take place in a separate room(s). While there should be some consideration of others in the main room, constantly telling amp guys to turn down their amps at an amp show is....wrong.
Any day but Labor Day weekend! Prefer the summer, though.
Oh, and some strategically placed fabric office dividers , or some sort of sound baffling, so the din doesn't get overwhelming.

Plus we get to do some cool stuff no one has been able to offer before.
As we get closer we will spill the beans.
We have been approached by a couple major companies and I think you will find the 2007 Tonefest a tough act to follow.

I am putting a little thread together with some tips on the MP.
How are you liking it?
One hint I will give you is the new room will allow you guys the ability to crank up as loud as you want without bothering anyone :)
Plus we can record everyone at the same time.

The MP is something else. I'm actually thinking of putting together settings that sound "bad" on the MP, but it's hard work. The voicing switch is great...I'm preferring the BF and Vox settings (my words) to the left when looking at the amp, but that's just me.

I'm certainly very interested to hear more about '07 Tone Fest. I really enjoyed '06, but am happy to hear that some of the "issues" from that one have been resolved.

October is not that great. Lots of folks attend the Arlington Guitar Show in October. I think September would be prime, as there's really nothing going on then. Just my 2 pennies.
September is better for many people, but we are looking to get much better traffic this year so maybe we need to move it to the winter so folks want to be inside?
Any ideas, opinions, sponsorships :D would be greatly appreciated!

There is always something going on that you'll have to compete with, whether its the weather or other events ---
the time that its nice to travel is also the time its nice to stay home
the problem with a Northern location is there is no time that its nicer in Chicago than other parts of the country except in the summer when its less hot (but then we have humidity...)
other considerations are if its really a local, regional or national event.... national vendors will come because they can make money....
but what will make the public show up? How many people would brave a Chicago winter from other parts of the country
Theres also refocusing potential - maybe only one day is open to the public and the other is industry day for brainstorming, networking,interviews, focus groups, seminars and commercial making etc, something that vendors cant get elsewhere and theyd be happy to pay for.....

braving Chicago winters is no big deal, we have conventions in February drawing people from all over the world!
I look forward to the next one and have been talking it up with friends and at guitar stores all over the area.

I was thinking about this the other day. I have already got some new toys and I need to start planning now so I am actually ready this year. Last year's Tonefest was great for me, so I look forward to this year's.
We are all very excited about TF Chicago 2007 and you will get an update in the next 2 weeks so you can plan accordingly.

We were thinking about a 24 hour party. Charter a 737 and we all go to Las Vegas for Dinner :D
The cost per booth will be a little more then it was last year and they noise will be easy to deal with since it will be an all acoustic flight LOL

Make it late in the year. Last year, my brand new Honda Civic 1995 had some A/C problems, this time I would want to deal with heater problems on my way over from NY.... :D

I might be up that way for the Chicago Marathon in October anyways... Have the tonefest be on the course... I can make a pit stop and catch some motivation. lol

I would like to be in the loop for Tone Fest 07 if possible. I'd be willing to make the drive for that. Perhaps a buddy too.

Between My travel and the long contract it is going to be 2 more days.
On Wed. I will annouce the firm dates, and the location.
ToneFest has grown up from last years event. I am really excited and I think you guys will really enjoy the experience.
There will be tons of activities, numerous clinics with some really big names, entertainment that is worthy of Chicago :D and a VIP Party for all of you guys.
While we loved the feel of last years event, we wanted to bring you a total experience.
Again, the Fest is the beginning of OCTOBER, you can lock that in for now.
All of your favorite builders will be there and then some!
If you have questions I will do my best to give you answers.

What is going on with Tone fest? I have this tentatively on the calendar:) , so I don't get committed to anything. I am also planning work projects to ensure I am home:D ; just don't tell my boss that!

Hi Guys:
Do to the overwhelming amount of work that goes into one of these things we have killed the 07 show and pushed it to 08. The last thing we wanted to do was postpone but we also wanted to make sure it was not just 100 builders hanging out. What was ToneFest in the past will be a joke in comparision to the new and improved version. We took the model, moved it to a large venue, added amazing entertainment, a learning center and with real booths to boot. We will make an announcement shortly. I have a meeting today with the Lawyers to get the final agreement signed. You will see this place change as well. All the ads will be bumped and one large entity will be taking it over.
I guess my days as Admin are coming to an end :)
Stay tuned and don't give up, we haven't!
