OK, it didn't snow. It could have though at any second. It was 30 degrees and this was the last outdoor show of the year in Chitown. It is hit or miss in terms of weather this time of year, and the winds were blowin hard.
We got to Soldier Field around 7ish and by show time right around 8:30 my feet were numb and I had snot frozen to my lip LOL.
I would love to tell you about Elvis opening set, but I have no memory of it as it was so cold.
Mick came out in a rhinestone trenchcoat and the guys were all slightly unprepared for the weather. They had heat pumping on stage, but it did nothing. They kept adding layers as the show went on and all you could see were huge grins as they were standing there in disbelief.
Mick thanked us many times for hanging in there, but with a set list like last nights it could have been a whiteout and we would have all stayed. The highlights for me were Monkey Man, Midnight Rambler, Honkey Tonk, Tumbling Dice. For those who have seen the Bigger Bang tour you will recall the stones have a seciton of the stage that moves out into the crowd. They did it last night and Keith must have played 3 chords before his hands froze and then he just waved to the crowd, something only Keith could do and still get 450 a ticket for :D
Yes, they are old and have more money then they know what to do with, but they are far from the aging rockers that they have been tagged in recent years. They still have it, all of it. It is safe to say that many bands would have played a short set in last nights conditions, or not played at all.
Good luck in Denver guys, and buy a winter coat :p
