Yeah so I'm not a big fan of Herbert. But the VH4 is a killer amp. A bit out of my price range, but they do sound phenominal unfortunately they are a bit hideous for my tastes. There are a lot of tones inside that thing.

My kind of amp test is the smile test. If I can crank it up loud and play a few riffs and it makes my spine tingle and instantly brings a SE grin to my face....I know it's a good amp.

In any case I also have enjoyed Muse's Absolution album, it was only later I found out Bellamy had a couple of Diezels in his rig, which is absolutely ridiculous if anyone hasn't seen it. The level of complexity is staggering especially when you have to employ two people to stop on the right midi patches because you don't have enough feet!!

I'm with you... lots of cool tones to be had... but a bit overdone for my tastes.

I feel the same way about Bogner... just too much going on in one amp.

I have never found a channel switching amp that "does it" for me... I guess I prefer simple layouts and straight forward setups.

That said, in the right hands those amps do some amazing things.

There are some great bands that use them like Tool
then there a bunch of wankers that use them as well like Sambora, Staind, Hammett LOL :p
They are very well made, have lots of cool tones but they need to do something about that look iicccckkkk

Lots of people complain that they sound a bit sterile when played loud. I've found that to be true.

The VH4 had some really nice bloomy lead tones. The Herbert Ch 2 was fantastic. Herbert's cleans were excellent as well.

I just prefer a more traditional marshall type voice, and they don't have that.
