I have a channel switcher which has a footswitch that switches between two channels. There is also a toggle switch on the panel that adds a gain boost. Is it possible to make the gain boost footswitchable? Ideally I'd like to have a two button footswitch that will switch between the channels and toggle the gain boost.

What amp is it? Does gain boost switch affect both channels ?

In any any case this mod will most certainly require installation of a relay doubling for the gain toggle switch on the panel. The relay will be controlled by a footswitch in the pedal. Depending on the amps' construction it can be a relatively simple operation or a more complicated surgery.

Amp make, model etc or schematic will enable me to give you or your amp tech a pretty detailed description of how to do it.

It's a Carr Slant 6V. The gain function is only available on the drive channel.

No schematics available I'm afraid. The footswitchable gain boost is an available option when the amp is built, but Carr won't add it afterwards. So if I want to do it I will have to do it myself.

I have some experience working on old Fenders, but I know nothing about relays.

Could you take some close ups? Gain switch + neighbouring pots and tube socket below from above left and right. Close up of channel switch jack. Also unscrew the jack: close up of jack contacts from the underside.

You can email the photos in full size to me:

Sure. May take me a few days to get them up though.
