I guess someone has to get the ball rolling...
My name is Pablo Mago and I'm a gear slut. :) Oh, wait, wrong meeting...
I got an e-mail from Dean telling me about this place so here I am. I'm a musician living in Fort Collins, Colorado where I play in three bands, Lalla Rookh, an acoustic Celtic band, Tuatha, a Neo-Tribal Trance and Global Groove band, and Not Dead Yet, a loose affiliation of guys who get together to jam on Grateful Dead, CSN&Y and Bob Dylan tunes. I'm also working up a semi-original harmony band modeled after The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Fairport Convention and the like.
As for gear, there's a bunch. The guitars I use the most are a '97 Gretsch 6120-60, '97 Rickenbacker 360-12, '03 Gibson Les Paul Historic '56 and a Parts-O-Caster Strat with a hardtail bridge, a humbucker at the bridge and a P-90 at the neck. I also play mandolin, lap steel, bass and percussion.
The most used amps are a Rivera S120-210, Mesa Boogie Studio .22+ (with an Altec speaker), Deluxe Reverb and a Vox AC-15. For effects there's a little pedalboard with a couple of distortion/OD's, a chorus, volume pedal, tuner and delay. Things rotate in and out a lot so I won't name names.
I grew up in the SF Bay Area so I have an affinity for those old hippie bands, but I listen to lots of different music. Lately it's middle eastern music and a band called Kan'nal that needs to be experienced more then just heard.
Glad to be here.

Sweet another Ft.C guy!
Go to the Starlight, ask for Chip and tell him to give you a beer on me!
Then ask him when he can book your band :)
I'll be there in a couple months so we will have to hook up!

I've heard of Ft C...
(Just trying to get my post count up, since I'm sick of being a roadie! I was the very fisrt person to post something on this board, and I'm still a roadie!)
Anyway, Welcome...
Hi,
Pleased to meet you Pablomago.
Oh, Jon, it seems you've become a bassplayer;) I wonder how many posts one will have to make to advance to guitar

Hey, I like bass players and just happen to be one. LOL, I can't wait till I get from Roadie to Bass Player. May never put up another post just so I can retain the title!!:D :D
Hi Jeff,
Oh, the bassplayer is the eqvivalent of a referee in a football match.
Few bands can exist without them and they don't grow on trees.
My second guitarist tells me he's a bassplayer while I'd like to play bass too :(
so I get to do the melodies on guitar instead of doing my best Entwistle.....
I also contemplated keeping my posts down to Bassplayer as it is a nice title.
Now tell me, what does Kirk Hammett mean?
Hm Dashiell Hamett wrote some pretty nice novels though.
Ah, piping, yes I'll shoot you a mail quite soon and we can work it out ;)

Hey Pablomago, you sound to be a diverse musician/person. I could only describe what I play as c--p, to quote my friends. Great to be here with you. I'm another roadie trying to get to the lofty heights of bass player.
Fort Collins is a beautiful place. . . . can get a bit chilly in the winter, but beautiful nevertheless.
