Whoa! This looks like a really good place to talk about guitars and music. Can't believe I wasn't aware of these forums, but I was not.
I'd like to thank sliding-tom, who mentioned the Guitar Hub during a conversation at the LPF. I was known as "rabbit" at the LPF and the Gibson Forums, but since that user name was already taken here, I will be using "Firebird."
I'm looking forward to being a part of this place. In just browsing around, I know there are some people here who know their stuff. Looks like I'm gonna have some fun .........

Hi Firebird! Good to have you! Is that (Firebird) your favourite guitar? :)
It sure is, sliding-tom ........ specifically speaking, the Firebird I. Thanks for asking!
So, tell me about the 135 ( when you have a moment, please. ) Has it become your favorite?
A couple I know lived in Germany for a while several years ago ( he was in the U.S. Air Force, stationed there. ) The wife said it was their favorite place of all to live. They came back here to Alabama, though ---- lots of family here and other places in the South. If not for that, I believe they would have moved to Germany when he retired, at a relatively young age, from the military. I would love to experience it myself. Some of the photos I've seen of the breathtaking countryside and of some cities there with that wonderful Old World ( not sure if that's the correct term ) architecture. Oh, man ............ !! Now that's my thing. Don't give me any of the modern American designs. Those beautiful old Bavarian-style buildings ------ aaahhhh. Love it.
Ha, ha ........ I know all of Germany does not consist of the old stuff, but I could really dig seeing with my own eyes things that I've only been able to admire from photos.

As much as there still is more or less of that architecture (depends on the city and how hard it has been hit in WW II), there's also cities as ugly as some US cities, and I'm saying some because I've been to some real nice and beautiful cities in the US. That "bavarian" style is kind of a cliche a lot of foreigners have in their heads (Japanese people even more than Americans  ). But there's some beautiful countryside, which for example, Irish folks don't expect for whatever reason.
Here's some impressions from my hometown for your pleasure:

The marketplace - that big house used to be the house of the "Butcher's Guild".
It's a reconstruction - not the old original buildings.

Church St. Michael - the oldest roman style church in Germany

One of only a handful of streets that have survived the war with their original
buildings.
As for the ES 135 - it's one of two guitars that I use for slide, the other being an Epiphone WildKat model. I prefer the WildKat most of the time for its better sustain, but the 135 gets that old school blues sound. It's modified to some extent: P 90s instead of P 100s it came with, different knobs and a toggle switch ring. Since I picked up a couple of Mallory caps recently, I'm going to dig in there soon and swap caps. I string it with .0145 - .052 pure nickels and tune it to open D.

sliding-tom ----
Hey, thanks for the beautiful photos. Some great shots there !!
Sorry about the bavarian cliche stuff. I was afraid I was going to come across as a geek foreigner and indeed I did. 'Scuse me while I slowly sink down in my chair as my face turns red. As Popeye the Sailor might say, "How embarrasskin' ........"
'Til Later,

Hey,
I am sorry that I took your name unintentionally. Since I am using that name on TGP, I chose to use it here as well. I owe you a beer or two, so if you come over, please drop a line! :)
I can add a comment to my profile that I am not the guy using this name at the LPF and Gibson Forums, if you want, to prevent mix-up and confusion. Cheers

rabbit ........ and you're a nice guy too. Thanks for your really considerate offer to note the user name thing in your profile, but there's no need as far as I'm concerned. You certainly don't owe me any kind of apology either. You were here before me with your user name -- simple as that. Although I appreciate the offer of the beer ( ha! ), you don't owe me one thing, man !
Thanks for the heads-up about TGP. I've been thinking about joining there myself ---- if I do, I'll know to go ahead and choose another user name for those forums. Ha, Ha!
Cheers,
Corey
