I know, I know, there's no swirly pedals and no pedalboard. I'll get a board one day and I need to hear a swirly that I actually like and can use.

Very cool Nick!
Looks like we have some stuff in common. I agree the next one you need it the MGMV. OK lets see some pedal boards!

Excellent pedal layout.

I'm curious as to your feelings about the tones of the HB into the EGDM.

As you know, the HB is a lite-to-med OD that tends towards the warm (maybe even dark) side. It's kind of an OD-thickener, if you will. The impact it has on the EGDM, which has a brighter capacity and tends to be more of a distortion device, is that is basically fattens the signal going in and causes the EGDM to have a heavier sound. Nice thing is that as long as you're not driving the HB too hard, it doesn't muddy up the EGDM.

The difference could be likened to a cranked AC30 w/ the EGDM ONLY engaged, and more like a wide open Plexi stack w/ the HB driving the EGDM. That may be a bit of an over-simplification, but it kind of gets you thinking in the right direction.

The HB is like sweet and low when you stack it :)
On its own it is like a small cranked tube amp. The amount of OD can be dialed in and out and like Nick says it never gets muddy.
My favorite stack is PPF>HB>P90's it just ooozes goodness.
I tend to use the HB more and more and it gets along with everything.

ah thanks fellows. Interesting. I have noticed a similar response, with my Barber DD, and several other as yet classified pedals into the EGDM and I've been thinking about the HB for a while, but I think I might go for a PPF instead just because I think I can cover the low gain ground for the moment and I really want a fuzz..

Unfortunately my little orange is sick and needs a trip to the amp doctor.

Man do I want a P90 guitar.

really nice setups though guys. top shelf.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of them for your next BJF pedal.
It just depends on what you play.
I'll just make things worse for you :D
Whats up with the Orange? Did you swap out the tubes?

Word. This is my setup. Really great stuff to be had here.

Pac, you and I have similar taste in tone too, so I can say that you would dig this stack. I like to throw another OD or boost in front of the PPF for an extra bit of treble. I set the PPF and HB around 9:00 - 10:00 on the nature and tone knobs... sounds thick and meaty... throw on the extra boost and you can have a bright lead tone as well.

For the sake of the thread...

My current setup is a Peterson Strobo --> PPF --> HB. That's it. I am looking for the right echo and trem to add in to the chain. Possibly an OD to permanently place out front as well.

Memory Lane will cure the delay, Donnerbox has a cool one coming out as well!
Trem, by far the best I have played is the Safron Yellow from BJF. Dean will chime in and tell you it rocks as well. I think there were 20 or so made. If you can find one grab it. There are too many good OD's out there, so just play a bunch.
Did you get on ProAnalog's TourBox?

No, what's the "TourBox?"

I try to keep an eye out for the BJF trem... I know it has gotten rave reviews

Post a question about it, Scotty is Pedal Nazi and he will get back to you.
I think it is on the road and not sure where it is.

Tomo,

That SBEQ really is a great pedal. And it's extremely useful no matter what amp/guitar combination you work with. It just enhances everything.

Yes, it does. You have Pale Green Compressor. Mine is blue.
This compressor is the best (for me) natural sounding and the BODY
control does more than tone... just wonderful pedal. Just like the SBEQ
enhances everything. It's great booster as well.

If you ever come to Boston, you are very welcome to my house.
My music room, gears! I cook good foods too!

Tomo, I know the one on the left is a CJOD, is the one in the middle also a Clay Jones? or something else?

Hi

Both are CJOD. Clay made 2 od pedals goes with my SRV & Pro Reverb.

I really liked the Phyco face one... so Clay copied Doll face to
the PD OD. but... I think each one slightly different each other.
The Phyco Face is my main CJOD. Very special pedal for me.

Just funky - clean to CJOD (http://www.homepage.villanova.edu/david.kaplowitz/tomo/jf_clip01.mp3)

I currently own about every model of BJF pedals with the exception of the LGW & the Plum Purple Phaser. I have everything else (including some custom models like the COW and HB Humper & Folk Fuzz. The Saffron Yellow Tremolo is absolutely the BEST tremolo out there IMHO. The SYT sounds like a cross of the old Gibson tremolo combined with a bit of Fender yet slightly different still. Very unique and very cool! I LOVE mine to death. But I love all of my BJFs to death. I will never sell any of my personal collection-- Bjorn's a genius when it comes to original sonic thinking. He has a gift for electronics that very few have. The depth of his knowledge and this unexplainable thing that only he does! Rock on BJ!:D

Hi Tomo,

What is so amazing is that you can make the guitar to sound like a horn section.

It's most rewarding to see so many familiar pedals in use.

Thanks

Speaking of which, Thanks Dean for EGDM #075 you sent me a year or so ago.

Jason thought it would be a good match with my Orange. Wow. Just wow.

I hate turning it off. It does so many things well. I don't know exactly why, but it just sounds magical.

Hi Bjorn,

Thanks for your kind words on my playing. I love horn sections.
but I want to express all by guitar. I love playing as a trio so
more free you know?

My head has a rehearsal space from 80's too.

Nice boards fellas!

JofZ, you are sick, in the best possible sense you understand ;^)

Here's my board...

The CC2 is semi-retired since the arrival of a PPF, when the Mini-Vibe lands the retirement will be complete. For the BJF groupies such as myself, here's the PPF and a shot of the Tea Green EQ in a Donner 'Vox' Box.
